An old abandoned house is nestled deep in the woods, surrounded by towering oak trees. Vines climb up the weathered siding, and moss blankets the roof and stone chimney. Though the windows are dark and broken, I can’t help but imagine what stories these walls might tell if they could speak.

Who lived here long ago and why did they leave so abruptly, leaving behind furniture and belongings? As I push open the creaky front door, I’m met with musty air and dust swirling in the shards of light that sneak through the holes in the roof. My footsteps echo across the peeling wallpaper and scratched hardwood floors as I explore the first floor rooms.

Strange symbols are carved into the banister leading upstairs to the second floor, where more mysteries likely await. Though the house seems sad and forgotten, the life that once filled its rooms lingers in the cracks and shadows.

I can’t explain why, but something about this moss covered old house draws me in, and I know this won’t be my last visit. There are secrets here waiting to be uncovered, if only I have the courage to keep searching.
